In the next few days, watch for a write-up about my tour of the eye-popping new Virtualis convention center that Dana Point-based Corporate Planners Unlimited has built in the virtual world Second Life.
It comes complete with virtual yacht, virtual escalators, and virtual movie theaters. I’ll tell about those and more, with photos of many of the virtual rooms. (The ballroom is pictured above.) Breakout rooms have various themes, including a cavern, a rain forest, an artist’s studio and a futuristic classroom where students’ avatars sit in suspended pods.
At present it can accommodate meetings of up to 100 people at a time. Prices? Company owner and Virtualis developer Dan Parks cites $250 for a 20-person meeting, complete with video and PowerPoint.
For more information on the conference center and this week’s get-acquainted seminar there, see last week’s post, “Trip to new Second Life conference center will start from Dana Point.”
