THE PRICE OF INNOVATION
The 54 employees of Irvine-based u-Nav Microelectronics can keep improving their location-sensitive GPS chips, but they’ll be reporting to Santa Clara chip maker Atheros Communications, which announced Dec. 13 that it’s buying u-Nav for $54 million in cash and stock. Hmm, that’s a value of $1 million per employee.
